World Of Wine: Grand Tour of France (Oxford)
Your chance to visit some of the best vineyards in France! Taste your way through Champagne, Burgundy, Bordeaux and the Rhône and experience how wonderful French wines can be…
We’ll also help to decode French wines for you, so that the next time you go shopping for French wine you will understand its regions better and how this affects the flavours you will encounter inside the bottle.
Starting with Champagne – this is a Grand Tour, after all! – we progress to the fine wines of Burgundy made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, then explore the Loire, the 'garden of France', for lively, aromatic Sauvignon Blanc, before visiting the world’s largest (and greatest?) wine region of Bordeaux for a delicious claret, made from Cabernet and Merlot. We finish the tour in the Rhône valley with its two distinct styles of red wine, peppery Syrah from the north and the smooth, juicy Grenache-dominated blends from the south.
Note, this evening can be booked on its own or as part of our core 8-week course - book all 8 evenings and save 15%! The 8-week course is flexible, so if you have to skip an evening you can pick it up next time.
