Discover Italy 3: South and Islands (Cheltenham)

Discover Italy 3: South and Islands (Cheltenham)

The penultimate leg of the Italian tour ventures into the deep south of Italy, into the regions of Puglia, Campania and Basilicata and the islands of Sicily and Sardinia. The wonderful Aglianico grape is finding increasing recognition, producing famous high-quality wines such as Taurasi and Aglianico del Vulture, while Primitivo (none other than California's Zinfandel) makes juicy and ripe affordable reds from Puglia. Not so long ago, Sicily was only known for its anonymous bulk wines; today, a new generation is crafting top-quality wines, with local grape varieties such as Nerollo Mascalese thriving on the precarious volcanic slopes of Mount Etna!  Sardinia is also thriving with refreshing varieties such as Vermintino.

This tasting is designed to explore the diverse variety of wines available from Italy produced from their fascinating indigenous grape varieties most of which are only found within Italy.

Big wine to look forward to: Etna Rosso DOC

All tastings include: minimum of 6 wines sourced locally so you can find them easily if you like them, full tasting notes, tasting sheet, use of professional tastings glasses and nibbles.
