Bothy Vineyard Tour
Bothy Vineyard lies in the Vale of the White Horse, Oxfordshire (just 3 miles west of Abingdon) and continues an ancient tradition of wine making, producing award-winning whites, rosés and sparkling wines and, in a good summer, some excellent reds too!
We are delighted that owner and wine maker, Richard Liwicki, has agreed to give us a private tour exclusively for clients of Oxford Chelt Wine School, starting at 6.30pm on Friday evening, 22nd June. Starting with a tour of the vineyard which includes some history as well as an explanation of Bothy’s viticultural and environmental practices, we move on to the winery where he will give us some fascinating insights into how the wines are made while giving us a tasting of a selection of his wines. The whole visit lasts ca 2 hours.
Bothy is in a little hamlet named Frilford Heath 6 miles southwest of Oxford, near Abingdon, with easy access from the A420 (Oxford - Swindon road) as well as the A34. Once you have found Frilford Heath, the entrance to Bothy Vineyard is on the north side of Faringdon Road, between the Dog House Hotel and Oakley Park; the postcode is OX13 6QW.
If you don't have a car, the Stagecoach S9 bus plies between Oxford and Wantage - get off just after the Oxford Instruments stop if you are approaching from Oxford. Then walk back towards Faringdon Road. Bothy is 250 metres on the left up Faringdon Road, after the Dog House Hotel.
After the visit, Nick will adjourn to the Greyhound in Bessel’s Leigh (5 minutes by car) for a light supper. If anyone would like to join me, let me know so that I can book a table of the right size.
